Kaladi’s Coffee Bar began with Tony Morel and Carmela Cordero taking a weekend trip to the small town of Galena to escape the hustle and bustle of the Windy City for a short time. While walking through the sleepy morning street, an idea was formed.

From the beginning, we have focused on creating a space for the community to come together over great coffee. In 2000, we opened the doors with a vision to combine high-quality coffee with a tribute to Galena’s past as a major mining town. In fact, we initially sold sterling silver alongside our coffee as a nod to the town’s history.

As the years passed, our offerings expanded to include our signature freshly baked pastries, and a menu that changes with the seasons to highlight local and global flavors.

Over 24 years later, Kaladi’s has become a beloved staple in Galena, known for our dedication to quality, community, and creating unforgettable experiences. Whether you’re a longtime regular or visiting for the first time, our story continues to be written with every cup we serve.
